About the studio

The studio I wish existed when I first wanted to build something.हमारी कहानी

Akara Labs is a prototyping and product-engineering studio in Chandigarh — a place where serious engineering meets an Indian workshop's care for form.

आकारā · kā · ra — form

The name

“Akara” is Sanskrit for form.

It means the act of giving shape to what does not yet exist — which is, exactly, what we do. Some of those forms are commercial. Some are personal. Some are someone's first prototype. Some will fly.

We treat every one — a drone frame for a defence startup or a custom award for a school — with the same care for how things are made.

The background

Built by an engineer, not a print shop.

Akara Labs is founded by an engineer with hands-on work across AI, IoT, robotics, drones, defence systems, industrial automation and smart devices — in CAD, 3D printing, electronics and embedded systems.

That depth is the point. When you send us a part, it's understood — not just dropped into a queue. We can talk through tolerances, materials, vibration, heat, and the trade-offs that decide whether a prototype works or wastes a week.

The studio is built to grow with the people it serves — from a founder's very first prototype to repeatable small-batch runs — without ever treating a job like just another line in a queue.

A studio that treats every prototype — whether it's a drone frame or a child's first award — with the same care for form and function.

Capabilities

What we can actually do, today.

01 · DESIGN

CAD & design engineering

Parametric modelling from a sketch, a spec, or reference images — designed for manufacture, not just to look good.

Fusion 360parametricDfM
02 · PRINT

FDM & SLA printing

Calibrated machines down to 0.05mm layers, with engineering-grade polymers and clean surface finishing.

0.05mm SLA0.1mm FDMmulti-colour
03 · MATERIALS

Materials guidance

The right polymer, infill and finish for the job — strength, heat, UV, food-safe, or simply the right look.

04 · ELECTRONICS

Electronics & embedded

Enclosures designed around real boards, sensors and wiring — fits, mounts and access that actually work.

05 · PRODUCTION

Small-batch production

Consistent functional runs with inspection — tens to low hundreds of parts, with repeatable tolerances.

06 · GIFTING

Personalisation & gifting

Multicolour, articulated print-in-place pieces, lithophanes, plaques and awards — made personal, made well.

How we work with you

A few commitments we don't bend on.

01

Your IP is yours

NDAs are welcome and signed gladly. Your files, designs and ideas are never reused, resold, or shown to anyone else.

02

Honest about what's possible

If printing is the wrong call for your part, we'll say so — and point you toward what's actually right.

03

A quote within 12 hours

With a clear breakdown of cost, material and lead time — and the trade-offs behind each, so you can decide fast.

04

Made in-house

Your part is designed and printed under one roof, on machines we calibrate ourselves — never silently outsourced.

Every part is printed on calibrated, well-maintained machines, and we grow our capacity deliberately alongside the work — so batch sizes scale up without ever losing the per-part care.

Materials we print & when

The right polymer is half the part.

We'll recommend the material — you don't need to know these going in.

PLAPolylactic acid

Crisp detail for concept models, fit-checks and visual prototypes. Easy to print, low cost.

PETGGlycol-modified PET

The everyday workhorse — tougher than PLA, mildly flexible, handles moisture and light loads.

ASAAcrylonitrile styrene acrylate

UV- and weather-stable. Our default for outdoor enclosures and parts that live in the sun.

ABSAcrylonitrile butadiene styrene

Tough and heat-tolerant, and vapour-smoothable to a glossy finish. Printed in an enclosure to prevent warping.

PA-CFCarbon-filled nylon

Stiff, light and heat-resistant — drone frames, brackets and load-bearing engineering parts.

Studio

We work from Chandigarh — India's first planned city, laid out by Le Corbusier on a clean modernist grid. A fitting home for a studio about giving things precise, considered form.
